An update from President/CEO Mike Parsons

Friday, June 29th, 2012

At First Source we believe we have an obligation to promote and protect the credit union industry. We continue to work with members of Congress on important issues to the credit union movement such as the federal income tax exemption that credit unions have due to their unique ownership structure, which allows us to continue offering our membership low cost financial services.

Recently Congressman Richard Hanna visited our new Rome Branch to recognize our investment in and commitment to the communities we serve. I’m pleased to report that Congressman Hanna has become a strong supporter of credit union friendly legislation. Thank you Congressman Hanna!

As President of your Credit Union I’m pleased to let you know that I’ve recently been elected to Board Chairman for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions where I am able to represent credit unions on the national level working with government-elected officials to ensure that the importance of credit unions is well understood and appreciated by all so that we may continue to serve you well and provide product and service enhancements.

Thank you for your continued business!

First Source Brings Personal Brand Of Banking To Rome

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

NEW HARTFORD, NY – First Source Federal Credit Union held the official groundbreaking for their newest branch in Rome today. The brief ceremony took place at 1:00 p.m. at 1822 Black River Blvd. in Rome, and included comments from the Honorable James Brown, Mayor of the City of Rome; Barbara Klein, First Source Federal Credit Union Chairwoman; and Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source.

The new Rome office will be their fifth branch location, and will create eight new jobs in the City of Rome. The branch will feature a new building, and the opening is planned for late fourth quarter 2011 or early first quarter 2012.

“We have taken an approach counter to what so many of the large corporate banks are pursuing in these difficult times,” said Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source Federal Credit Union, “and our communities are responding to us in a very positive and tangible way. We’re thrilled to be able to expand our services to Rome, and continue this trend toward more personal banking.”

First Source added their last new branch just two years ago in North Utica. Growing Membership rolls and demand have prompted them to provide services in Rome. “We treat our Members as real people, as friends,” added Parsons. “They’re a part of our organization, and entrusting us with their financial future. This represents the next logical step in our ongoing expansion to provide high quality financial services and products in the communities we serve.”
