NEW HARTFORD, NY – First Source Federal Credit Union held the official groundbreaking for their newest branch in Rome today. The brief ceremony took place at 1:00 p.m. at 1822 Black River Blvd. in Rome, and included comments from the Honorable James Brown, Mayor of the City of Rome; Barbara Klein, First Source Federal Credit Union Chairwoman; and Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source.
The new Rome office will be their fifth branch location, and will create eight new jobs in the City of Rome. The branch will feature a new building, and the opening is planned for late fourth quarter 2011 or early first quarter 2012.
“We have taken an approach counter to what so many of the large corporate banks are pursuing in these difficult times,” said Mike Parsons, President and CEO of First Source Federal Credit Union, “and our communities are responding to us in a very positive and tangible way. We’re thrilled to be able to expand our services to Rome, and continue this trend toward more personal banking.”
First Source added their last new branch just two years ago in North Utica. Growing Membership rolls and demand have prompted them to provide services in Rome. “We treat our Members as real people, as friends,” added Parsons. “They’re a part of our organization, and entrusting us with their financial future. This represents the next logical step in our ongoing expansion to provide high quality financial services and products in the communities we serve.”
