One of our Holiday Traditions…

Thursday, December 5th, 2013

kidsoneida

A few years back we started a new holiday “tradition”. We’re once again looking forward to “adopting” seven families in need for the holidays through a tremendous organization, Kids Oneida. To make their holidays a little brighter, we provide gifts and items of need to these families from their wish lists.

We are given a list of the names/ages of the children and what they are in need of and what they would like to find under the tree. Each one of our branches plus our Member Care Center has a family with New Hartford having 3. Employees can shop for items on the list or give monetary donations. Once the shopping is done, we set up wrapping stations around our branches and everyone helps out when they can.

Instead of giving to one another in the office, we give back to our community and we hope you’re inspired this holiday to do a little something for someone in need as well.

Go Red Corporate Challenge

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

First Source is proud to participate in the Go Red Corporate Challenge-an eight-week workplace wellness challenge that kicked off March 7th. We’ve been educating our employees with wellness tips, providing healthy snack options in our branches,  and participating in activities designed to keep ourselves on the path towards a healthier lifestyle. Some of these activities have included group workouts like Zumba and Bootcamp classes as well as a mall walking group. We’re very proud of what our team has accomplished and are looking forward to sharing the official results of the challenge on May 4 at the AHA’s Go Red for Women Luncheon.

Daryl Crouch to Ride for Missing Children in Albany

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

First Source employee, Daryl Crouch, is participating in the 3rd Annual Ride for Missing children – Greater Capital District in Albany on September 24th. After participating in this year’s Ride in Utica, this is what Daryl had to say:

“Being a first year rider I have really taken to the cause and purpose behind the ride. I have attended the closing ceremonies a number of times in years past with my own young children, but never saw all that went into making the ride a success. So many people doing so much to make sure our children are safe and bringing home those children that have gone missing. I wanted to do more to support the cause and give back a little more than just participate in the annual ride.”

The purpose of “The Ride” is to honor the memory of all missing children, to raise public awareness of the plight of all missing and exploited children and the need for child safety education, and to raise funds to support the missing children poster distribution process and mission of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

What a Ride Part 4

Monday, April 12th, 2010

7 First Source employees and 2 family members are getting serious about their commitment to ride over 90 miles on May 21st as a part of The Ride For Missing Children. This is what First Source employee Tanya Keller had to say about her commitment:

What does this bike Ride mean to you?
At first, for me, it was a way to challenge myself physically and also, a way that I could show my support, as an employee, to a cause that First Source supports. However, as I began attending the events and meeting the wonderful people involved in this amazing cause, I see what a difference ‘The Ride’ truly makes in the lives of so many families all across our country. I feel incredibly honored to have been given the opportunity to be a part of it all!

As a first time rider, what words describe how you are feeling about the big day?
I am a little nervous, but I think the excitement and enthusiasm I feel about it will definitely get me through.

How are the training rides going?
Was this question geared at just me? Ha! Well, my fellow riders all know about some challenges I’ve faced with some chain/shifting problems and Merritt Place on my first training ride, but overall, I have become much more comfortable & confident in my ability to ride with large groups of people. The training ride last weekend was so much fun and the weather was so cooperative, I can’t wait to get out there again this weekend. My fellow riders, especially on Team First Source, have been so encouraging and supportive, I don’t think I could do it without them!

What A Ride Part 3

Friday, April 9th, 2010

7 First Source employees and 2 family members are getting serious about their commitment to ride over 90 miles on May 21st as a part of The Ride For Missing Children. This is what First Source employee Catherine Infantino had to say about her commitment:

Ok for me who is a first year rider for The Ride For Missing Children it is so thrilling and hugely touching to be a part of such a great organization.  I have riden in the past years for other organizations which I will continue to do as well. This is something that when you start you will always do year after year.  To see and know that what all these riders accomplish is more than just the ride. It is making a huge difference for the organization.

The training rides I find very useful.  We need to be comfortable riding with the group going forward and if we were to wait and just hop on and ride that day it could be very dangerous. We need to get to know all our neighbor riders for an organized day ahead. I am soo excited for May 21stand also to hear of all its great successes ($) after our ride.
