First Source Gives Back

First Source Federal Credit Union has proudly supported and contributed to our community since our founding in 1938. It’s part of our nature. We are a community-owned organization and we recognize the importance of investing in that community. While each of the organizations and charities we partner with each year feels the love, the community as a whole may not know all that we contribute through the year.

We wanted to not only raise that awareness but also allow for our community to be a bigger part of the process. In late November we launched an effort through our Facebook page where community members could “Like” us on Facebook and then vote for their favorite local charity to receive $2,500 this January.

The response has been overwhelming. We have grown to over 1,000 fans on Facebook and have received hundreds of votes already. It is so awesome to see everyone’s passion on our page. Each organization is spreading the word and asking their friends, family and coworkers to vote.

As well, we have received positive feedback through phone calls and emails, thanking us for the opportunity to receive much-needed funding. To this we say, Thank you. It is you who drive us to always strive to achieve more and give back to the community.

If you haven’t voted yet, go to facebook.com/fsourcefcu and “Like” us. Then go to our Poll tab and vote. (Wall posts will not be counted.) Votes will be accepted through December 22nd.  The organizations listed are groups we have partnered with over the years. Any new organizations added need to be located in Oneida or Herkimer County to be considered, as that is the area that we currently serve.

Remember, only one vote is allowed per person, so make yours count. Of course, encourage others to vote too, and make it a great holiday for all.

These comments concern your new security lay out at the Genesee Street branch, Utica. I was in there the other day and was totally frustrated and unimpressed. First of all, you have no signs explaining the new window procedures. So myself and other customers are looking around and asking one another how do you contact a teller.

As for the security measures. Based on the hold-up history at that branch, new measures are justified. But to convert the interior tellers to a “drive-thru” configuration does not really provide maxi min security in my opinion. Nothing prevents a perpetrator from threatening harm to the Customer Service rep unless a teller drops some money down the chute. As you know, not all bank robbers are rational individuals. I believe that you would have been better served by placing an armed, uniformed security guard right at the entrance. In full view from the outside.

We are saddened to hear that you are dissatisfied with the recent
renovations to our South Utica facility. There was much research and
deliberation in the decision to move to Remote Tellers. Remote Tellers are a
safer alternative to a traditional teller line for both Members and
Employees. They remove the cash drawers from the lobby thereby acting as a
deterant to would-be criminals. The new technology also offers Members the
latest in service, for more efficient processing of transactions, while still
maintaining the personal interaction that we pride ourselves on. As you
noted, an additional benefit of the Remote Tellers is that every station is
open for service at all times, unlike traditional teller windows. Your
feedback is important to us and we will be posting signage in the branch in
the coming weeks to help educate our Members on this very benefit. Thank you
for taking the time to share your thoughts! You make us who we are and we
      appreciate your Membership!”
